Now, we have a Bruneian caught in Chile for drug smuggling. That's taken us to another level.
It's no longer okay for us to think that the number of drug-users and drug-traficker are relatively small in comparison to the population (based on stats from NCB). We have to take urgent precaution. We ALL have to take actions, not just NCB.
It's 15 packets of coke. 5.73kg - that's more than the biggest bag of Breeze (or washing powder) available in the supermarket. That's not a tiny amount to play with. That's enough to penetrate more than a whole secondary school to go bonkers. Scary. Sickening. Silly.
Thank God he's caught. It's a shame. It's even a shame if he is anak melayu (stats indicate there are more malays involve in drug-usage, I'm not sure with drug-traficking).
I do wonder the profile of this kid. Is he employed? Is he (highly) educated? What is his background. How did he all started? I'm sure NCB is working on this.
I wish to congratulate those concern for managing to catch this guy. I wonder what's his punishment. He sure is making history, but not in a good way.

This is globalization!!! Organized crime like drug cartels etc are everywhere, Brunei is never excluded. I agree with you that there need to be more aggressive anti-drug solutions to address this issue. At the moment, the public awareness campaigns are very seasonal and not so effective. Relevant stakeholders need to get to the 'root' of the problem and deal with the issue pronto. no more resting on our laurels!!
I couldn't agree more, we need to get to the bottom of the issue. Fund's paramount not just for NCB to operate, but I'm sure research studies on this area would require some amount of dollars to unravel the behaviour. Drug is a multi-billion business globally and to eradicate would require so much too. Transforming behaviours are not easy either, radical social marketing is necessary. Likewise, stakeholders need to be in this campaign. I supposed preventive measures such as the awareness campaigns need to be redesigned not just to tackle users but traffickers too. You said its ineffective. Indeed it would interesting to explore the effectiveness of campaigns so far, but not an easy task to accomplish if fund is minimal. Nor should studies be in silo. For effective campaigns, users and traffickers behaviour are essential to understand. Then you can define your campaign strategically. Well, that's just my view.
